If you guys follow my blog, then you’ll know that Anwar is not too hot for me. But generally politicians ain’t that hot.
Anyway, after the BN’s OVER-REACTION TODAY and the Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan’s veiled threat to bring in the military for “crowd control??? in the fuel price hike protest last Sunday, I am seriously thinking that Malaysia is now in danger of being a militant state.
It’s no joke to bar Anwar and the rakyat from Parliament. What more with such heavy police presence as if they were waiting to take on the Hamas. If you’ve attended some of these PKR vigils/demonstrations and seen the people, you’ll totally see how over-the-top the government has been. Despite being rude and rather emotional sometimes in cyberspace, many PKR supporters in Selangor/KL are young and idealistic. Most of their demos look like some student outing…PAS people, come on man. These guys are so into sembahyang etc. Yes, they too can be rough at times but mostly peaceful. DAP, erm, street demos are still new to party culture….Like one MP told me, “Why demo on the streets? We can raise the matter up in parliament….??? That was at the time when there was only ONE PKR MP.
I think we have to take Musa’s threat very seriously. His public statement about the use of military force to quell public dissent lends a lot of credence to the conspiracy theory floating about that suggests that BN (not all, some ppl) wants to cause turmoil, and then introduce Emergency Rule.
In any case, whatever it is, I hope Anwar and his family will be safe and sound. For whatever his past or motivations may be, he gave us, carried along by the “right conditions???, hope that change is possible in Malaysia.
