K Patmanathan, a Muslim convert, is challenging the Cabinet decision to ban parents from secretly converting children in a case that has strained race relations, saying the ruling ” contradicts the federal constitution, it is illegal and not applicable on Muslims including myself and my children. “

His lawyer has confirmed the contents of the court document but refused further comment.

The Malaysian Insider reports, here, that the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will seek clarification again from the parties responsible for the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project whose cost is said to be exorbitant. New chairman Azmi Khalid said the PAC would call within two weeks all those responsible for the “RM1.8 billion-odd” project.

PAS (Parti Islam SeMalaysia) which previously did not receive the support of a large part of the non-Muslim community in Malaysia is now getting a rather positive response from them. This can be gathered from the result of the Bukit Gantang by-election in Perak where PAS candidate Nizar Jamaluddin snagged 75% of the Chinese votes compared to 65% [won by the party’s candidate Roslan Shaharum] in the General Election of March 2008.

Whose Interest?

Sarawak Chief Minister beamed with smile after meeting the Prime Minister that was quoted in the media soon after Datuk Najib Tun Abd Razak announced the line up of his cabinet. Why one may ask?  The answer is obvious his son Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abd Rahman was appointed as Deputy Minister of Tourism. 

While former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad likewise whose son is also in the cabinet line up as Deputy Minister said, he didn’t do any lobbying for Datuk Mukhriz.

The first target is that dirty newspaper Utusan Malaysia. While their boss, the erstwhile PM of Malaysia, is trying to put forward his “1Malaysia” concept, opportunistic though it may be, they are blatantly pushing a racist and racial agenda. Obviously this is both a challenge to Najib as well as a warning to the other races of this country.

Their headline today reads “Bangkitlah Melayu” and they are blaming this highly provocative incitement on the “extreme” demands of the other races – how convenient! THIS IS SEDITION!

UPDATED VERSION. So, how many Tsu Koons, or my definition for political rejects, made it to Najib’s Cabinet? You count.

Meanwhile, here’s some feedback. From Malaysia Insider, titled: Najib chose BN over country in Cabinet choices:

The Najib Cabinet is the best that BN can offer.

Sad but true. Don’t think Ahmad Shabery Cheek is up to scratch? Who else does Umno Terengganu have to offer?

Think Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop should have been dropped? But he is the only Penang MP (besides Abdullah) still in the House.

Why is Anifah Aman the foreign minister? Because Sabah had to be rewarded and he is one of a clutch of MPs who is comfortable conversing in English.

Cognitive dissonance: An uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas, attitudes or beliefs simultaneously.

UMNO/BN lost not because of poor machinery, or any other mechanism. Many will blame the factionalism within UMNO/BN but that doesn’t hold much water, seeing that Najib was elected as UMNO president unchallenged.

The real fundamental reason they lost was because the supporters were experiencing cognitive dissonance. There’s that uncomfortable feeling that what they’re saying and what they’re experiencing is not consistent. That what they think and what they say and do are two different things. And when you’re mentally being pulled in 2 directions, it’s impossible to be effective. So how is this happening with the UMNO/BN people?
